6397 Fall 2023 Ready-to-Wear

“It’s not the kind of collection that’s, ‘Oh this time I’m inspired by a trip to Sicily,’ or something,” says 6397 designer Stella Ishii of the fall 2023 season (and really, every season). Her inspirations don’t change fast enough to warrant a full page of show notes every six months. In the 10 years since launching 6397, Ishii has honed in on making the kind of basics that can hang in a fabulously understated woman’s closet next to her colorful Dries Van Noten coat or Margiela Tabi ballet flats. With their slouchy, understated sensibility, 6397 presents clothes that a woman wears in between statement pieces: that is, in her everyday life. “I’m inspired by this city—New York—always,” Ishii says. “And the women I work with, how they dress, how I want to dress, and things that can last, can be in a closet for a long time: that doesn’t go out of style.”
