“I. Love. This. Dress. Period. Full stop,” designer Andrea Lieberman says, referring to a black mini dress with on-trend puff-sleeves and rhinestone tubing along the rib cutouts. “I mean, come on. Does that not look like it’s so beautiful and luxury? It’s a $600 dress, but to me, honestly, it looks so expensive.” This sums up Lieberman’s feelings about her resort 2023 collection, rife with party dresses, unexpected suiting, and patterned swimwear. A $600 dress is expensive, but less so than the four- or five-figure gowns other designers stock. As an advanced contemporary label opening a fifth store, Lieberman’s company wants to offer the woman who has money a flattering, stylish outfit at a lower price than what you’d get at a French maison. “That’s something that we as the design team put a lot of pride in, to offer these pieces that feel and look like they should be two and three times the price from a real designer, luxury brand,” Lieberman says, calling out the “weight and gravitas” of the fabric as exemplary of this philosophy.
