Pattern? (Almost) bright color? What was going at Lemaire? “Maybe we are not so timid,” suggested Christophe Lemaire, who added that the inspirations for this collection had run from the Russian rustic as written by Tolstoy to a bit of polished suedehead grit. An artist friend contributed the muted paisley and feather-overlay marble prints used in drill outerwear, silk shirting, what looked like mohair knits, and, occasionally, loose pants, too. There was a button-cuff shirt/track top hybrid inspired by fencing attire and several turtlenecks that came in pink: No timidity here.
