Sachin & Babi Resort 2016

"By the time you start designing Resort, you're in the depths of winter," Sachin Ahluwalia said at a collection preview. What better way to mentally escape the cold than by dreaming about—and designing for—the tropics? Print-happy Ahluwalia and his wife-partner, Babi, created a wavy stripe in unexpected yellow, green, and blue that worked beautifully on a relaxed pencil skirt, along with a red-based floral that livened up a day dress. The Ahluwalias also used a special technique to create fringe accents that mimicked the look of a palm leaf. While the prints and embellishments felt fresher this season than last, it was the solid pieces—a white safari dress and a pair of winged palazzo pants, in particular—that were the breeziest.
